2011 Friendly Match Report - Bournemouth Wanderers
The final game of 2011, and we welcomed Bournemouth Wanderers for the first time. There were debuts for two of 'Polly's Colts' and Matt Robbins should have celebrated his first wicket in senior cricket with a dismissal with his first ball! Matt Wedge (65) went on to score the top score of the day after Sean Adams dropped him. George McRobert did get a wicket, as the debutantes both bowled tidy spells. The Wanderers did well to get 203-6 off 44 overs on a damp, slow wicket, with Colin Handley contributing 62 not out. After tea the young Alex Bowes proved too good for the the prolific Charlie King who was bowled in the first over for nought. Dan Hood (64) had useful stands with Graeme McRobert (27) and Maneesh Mali (63) which put IBM in with a shout of a victory, but wickets fell in the gathering gloom, and after Nick Wood stamped on his wicket in bizarre fashion, and despite Sean Adams final fling, they settled for a draw. 199-9 (Neil Pack 3-41). Good stuff, and exactly how these games should be played.
